Mitty to open and then the undefeated Irish from Sacred Heart Cathedral from San Francisco was our second league game. SHC is led by their two really good posts Josh Fox and Taylor Johns. The advantage we brought was playing in San Jose in front of our home fans who came out in pajama theme (classic).
The Bellarmine basketball team has had an Olugbode (Kyle and/or Kris) on the varsity basketball team the past 4 years. Having the opportunity to watch as a fan and play with these guys I have seen up close what they bring to a team. Strength, hard work, unselfishness, leadership etc. are some of those things. With Kyle '10 and Kris '11 graduated and football having a state game season, we have been without an Olugbode. Well football is now over and Kenneth Olugbode '13 has joined us and what a difference he is making.

Kenneth scoring in the paint |
Kenny was matched up against the much taller Taylor Johns from the opening tip and took Johns out of the game. His defensive pressure, his strength and work ethic kept Johns off the boards and virtually off the scoreboard. Johns' frustration turned to foul trouble and he was never a factor in the game. That doesn't show up in the box score for Kenneth, but we as his teammates sure felt the difference having Kenny on the court.
Kenny also had some key free throws under a lot of pressure down the stretch and he sank them even though he is just a few weeks off the football field.

BIG free throws |
Griffin Goudreau shot the ball really well all game and Jack Fordyce also made some big baskets and grabbed some clutch rebounds in the 4th quarter. Though certainly not a perfect game on our part, we really came together as a team in the clutch and finished the game with a win.
Ok we were a little excited to hand the first loss to SHC of their season and show that we can play with anybody.
